Editing a Website
Found Piece #2: Dental Laboratory Website
My second selection of found writing is the website for a dental laboratory in Oregon called “Group 4 Dental Lab.” Although the arrangement of links and information feels generally apt for viewers (save for a few exceptions on the website’s mobile version), there is minimal use of white space—or empty space between items and text—all throughout the page. I suggested edits for both the desktop and mobile versions of the website in order to exercise the C.R.A.P. principles of design—contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity—considering text and its visual context in digital environments. These suggestions include fixes in spacing, visual accessibility, sizing, and mobile user interface.
